Helping Keep Our Patients, Families & Team Healthy

Because we provide close, hands-on dental care to children, we take the health and safety of our patients, families, and team very seriously. Our dental procedures involve close contact with the mouth, saliva, and respiratory secretions, and some children we care for have medical conditions that make them more vulnerable to infection.

For this reason, we ask families to please let us know if their child is sick or has recently been diagnosed with a contagious illness before coming to the office.

When Should You Call Us?

Please call our office at 973-989-7970 before your child’s appointment if your child:

  • Has a fever or has had a fever within the past 24 hours
  • Has vomiting or diarrhea
  • Has a new or unexplained rash
  • Has significant coughing, congestion, sore throat, or other respiratory symptoms
  • Has been diagnosed with a contagious illness such as strep throat; influenza (flu); hand, foot & mouth disease; fifth disease; chickenpox; measles; or another infectious illness.
  • Has been advised by a healthcare provider to stay home from school, daycare, or other activities because of an illness
  • Has been exposed to a contagious illness and may be developing symptoms

When in doubt, please call us. We’d much rather help you determine whether your child’s appointment should be rescheduled than have a sick child come to the office.
